LIPOSUCTION

What is Liposuction?
Liposuction slims and contours specific areas of the body by both removing excess fat deposits and inducing contraction of the overlying skin. Liposuction can be performed on many areas of the body including abdomen and waist, hips and buttocks, thighs, back, neck, chest, upper arms, knees, calves, and ankles.
Liposuction can be performed alone or along with other plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift, breast reduction, or a tummy tuck. If you are bothered by excess fat deposits – located anywhere on your body – that don’t respond to healthy eating and/or exercise, liposuction may be indicated. Ideal candidates for liposuction are adults close to their ideal weight who have good muscle tone and firm, elastic skin.
About the Procedure:
Liposuction is performed through small, inconspicuous incisions. At the beginning of the procedure, a fluid is infused into the skin and fat to minimize pain and bleeding. A thin hollow tube, or cannula, is inserted through the small incisions to loosen excess fat using a controlled back and forth motion. The dislodged fat cells are then suctioned out of the body using a surgical vacuum and/or syringe attached to the cannula. Numerous problem areas can be addressed including the abdomen and waist, hips and buttocks, thighs, back, neck, chest, upper arms, knees, calves, and ankles.
Your improved body contour will be most apparent once the swelling and fluid retention commonly experienced following liposuction subside. With continued practices of healthy eating and fitness, the loss of excess fatty tissue should be permanently maintained. Significant fluctuations in weight, including those that occur with pregnancy, can alter the results. It is not possible to improve lax skin tone with liposuction. Maintaining your weight and keeping a healthy lifestyle will help the longevity of your liposuction results.
